According to the survey, more than a quarter of India population suffers from thyroid disorders, that means about 32% Indians have various forms of thyroid disorders.

Today is world thyroid day and a recent survey conducted by a private diagnostic chain is nerve-wrecking.

According to the survey, more than a quarter of India population suffers from thyroid disorders, that means about 32% Indians have various forms of thyroid disorders.
It is a silent disease where the symptoms are subtle and may be often missed during diagnosis, so it's essential to to keep your eyes open.

The survey further mentions that, subclinical hypothyroidism, in which thyroid functions just below normal level, is a silent disease which is being increasingly diagnosed in the Indian population and is of course a sign of worry.

In addition, women have up to eight times the risk of developing a thyroid disorder than men.
Symptoms of underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism) are similar in men and women and include weakness, fatigue, weight gain, depression, and high cholesterol.

With early diagnosis and treatment, thyroid can be successfully managed. Hormone replacement is a safe and effective treatment that can manage one’s symptoms and prevent complications.

Maximum cases of hypothyroidism have been reported from people living in the Northern regions as compared to the rest of the country.

How to manage thyroid

A good diet consisting of iodine-rich foods, protein, eggs, probiotics like yogurt and healthy fats such as desi ghee that help in balancing your hormones.
Also, pranayam can be helpful in curbing thyroid to a certain extent.
