India vs England , 5th Test The Oval, London

Sujit Singh, 08/09/2018

DAY 1:

Ishant Sharma struck thrice to lead India's sensational fightback as the visitors reduced England to 198 for 7 at stumps.

Alastair Cook hit a memorable half-century in his career's final match on day one of the fifth Test .

It wound up three wickets in nine balls as Sharma scratched off Bairstow, got behind. It was some encouragement for attendant Rishabh Pant who had an extreme day behind the wickets as the ball seamed a great deal after tea.

Ben Stokes (11) and Ali put on 37 keeps running for the fifth wicket and stemmed the defeat. The last scored his thirteenth 50 years off a moderate 167 balls in this between time.

Jadeja started the slide once more, as Stokes was caught lbw in the 78th over. Having played and missed as the day progressed, Ali at long last figured out how to scratch Sharma behind in the 83rd over.
