Vodafone offers 28GB 4G data and unlimited calls for Rs 346, beats Jio on price

Deepak, 03/03/2017

In the wake of Jio Prime's Rs 303/month offer, which gives a user unlimited calls/SMS + 1GB 4G data/day, Vodafone has launched an explosive new pack which offers the same benefits at Rs 346/month.

Where Vodafone pulls ahead of Jio is in the fact that while the latter's offer is only available for Prime customers, the former does not have any such restriction.

Reliance Jio with its disruptive pricing, has triggered a tariff war amongst all major telecom operators in the country and has forced stalwarts like Airtel and Vodafone to pull up their socks and introduce new plans and offers in order to compete.

To recap, Jio Prime offers users the chance to continue enjoying unlimited data till 31st March 2018, albeit with a fair usage cap of 1GB/day by shelling out Rs 303/month. There is also a Rs 499/month plan which offers 2GB of 4G data a day.

To become a Prime customer, a user has to pay a flat entry fees of 99 rupees. The catch is that Jio Prime is only valid for existing Jio users or those who get a new SIM activated on or before 31st March 2017, the day the Happy New Year offer ends.

For non Prime users, Reliance gives a paltry 2.5GB of 4G data along with unlimited calls/SMS for Rs 303/month. So if we compare Jio's regular (non Prime) plan to Vodafone's offer, the latter offers far better value for money.

Vodafone will also offer double data (56GB) and double validity (56 days) the first time a user activates this pack - 1GB of 4G data daily for 56 days at just Rs 346 might just be the deal of the century.

This information has come from a user on Twitter - Sanjay Bafna who also claims that there is a daily voice call cap of 300 calls along with the 1GB per day data limit. Vodafone has not announced these plans officially and we have reached out to Vodafone for comment and will update the story accordingly.
